Visual art, 2023. WWII silk parachute, papier-mâché, cardboard, printer paper, wire, vintage chandelier drops, Palestinian flags, acrylic paint.

I created this wearable piece for Tucson’s 2024 All Souls Procession as a memorial for all who are dying, being harmed, and suffering due to the genocide of Palestine committed by Israel and the United States.
In addition to being a memorial and an expression of deep grief and horror, it’s a protest with a call to action.
I titled it “A Wounded World” to express my view that the genocide has harmed all and everything, from the littlest soil bacteria to the world’s soul. The genocide’s victims are first and foremost Palestinians, but also include traumatized witnesses, those forced into culpability (including myself, a tax-paying American citizen), the climate and environment, pets, livestock, wildlife, olive trees, and homes and communal architectures built with so much labor over decades or centuries. I say “Free Palestine” because believe the health everything in our interconnected world depends on this liberation.
